OVER CHARGED ME FOR MY POLICY. LIED TO ME ABOUT MY COVERAGES THEN DID NOT HONOR THE POLICY WHEN SOMEONE HIT ME AT A COMPLETE STOP. HAD TO FILE A CLAIM TWICE BC THEY DID NOT DO ANYTHING ON THE 1ST CLAIM. CLAIMED THE CLAIM NUMBER DIDN'T EXIST. I HAD FULL COVERAGE AND THEY DID NOT PAY FOR MY CARS $2000 WORTH OF DAMAGE. THEN SENT ME A BILL 2 MONTHS LATER FOR $272.30 FOR A CANCELLED POLICY BC I WENT AND GOT ANOTHER INSURANCE COMPANY. DO NOT GIVE THESE THIEVES AND LIARS ANY OF YOUR MONEY!!!

Disabled veteran with perfect record refused coverage for 'garaging'

The General refused to accept recently delivered federal documentation proving residency and denied insurance to a 100% disabled veteran with perfect driving record. The General is not friendly to veterans but uses a false military persona to lure us in. My social security or VA disability documentation should be just as good as a utility bill and THE GENERAL is out of line and this incident was abusive. Veterans with PTSD don't want t heat that the VA documentation that controls their very life is not adequate enough for THE GENREALS high standards. Bad on you And if I can get this on TV I'm gonna tell everybody. So rude,.... So bad,... What the *** are you thinking?

Why do veterans think they're exceptions to rip offs, rudeness, false advertising, over chargingcharging, unexpected things! Wars are from politicians.

They improve nothing. So excuse me if real life of being maltreated by a company like everyone else seems to be such a surprise!

Worst experience EVER

I bought a auto policy from The General in mid September 2018. I tried change my due date like they say you can in the ad. They said they couldn't do that. I bought a car, my premium went from what I thought was $230. Something to over $510.00 per month. I have no at fault accidents ever, no speeding tickets ever, no DUI's ever. I started to notice that they would take money from my account more than once a month.I would think they were paid and they would say I still owed them. I knew that my record did not support a $510.00 premium per month. I checked around and they were about twice the price of any other agency. When I asked them why I paid so much, they got all defensive and started tellng me things that I knew wernt true. Then after months of double premiums they decided that the premium that was only a couple weeks old would not be refunded. They infact decided I owed them . mind you I paid a deposit. This is a common practice with them. They even got arrogrnt

I scheduled a towing at 5 pm. They were asking for money upfront when I pay for towing with my insurance. They said they do not show me with coverage wanted the date my service. Called back with a supervisor they were not charging me said they would be out in 45 minutes at 6 pm. They never showed up. I called and was hung up on twice. Bad customer service I would warn people not to use the general. Poor insurance poor customer service. Rip off reporting to BBB

Feel lucky. They charged me $510.78 per month.

Then when I canceled 2 weeks inro the month they stole my refund.

They are the worst. I will get my money back.

Poor service and harassment

I brought a new car in Oct this year 2018 and I no longer had insurance on my old car because it was broke down since Feb 2018. I needed insurance on my car to take it home. I got the General. Full coverage for just me I was paying way to much. Since I only paided one month I changed to progessive. I pay 100 less to insure me my husband and two cars. Now they repeatly call me send me emails about my insurance lapse. Now it is almost Jan and they contiune to email me wanting money. ( they sent me a email 1 week after getting them wanting another payment)

I have been with The General for a year and a half now, paying all the premium religiously. I recently hit a curb when turning into a parking lot, damaging a transfer case.

They refused to covered, saying that it is a mechanical issue, and not caused by the impact.

The DOAN Group which is the appraiser they partner with, is terrible as well. With limited knowledge, the guy name Nick Narroth said because there is no damage to the tire or suspension, the impact caused by hitting the curb can't damage the transfer case. There are a lot of case out there in which the transfer case is indirectly damaged by hitting an object.

This company is a fraud.

Stay away from them, go somewhere else. They will find ways to deny your claim.

This is the worst!

This company is a joke! I totaled my car 3 months ago. It took them 3 weeks to get a adjuster to come look at my car and my car loan still has not been paid by the insurance company! In result i cannot get another car loan bc they wont pay! This place is the worst!

I got the run around for almost a year after switching insurance companies. I canceled with the general and they still tried to bill me.

So I contacted them and they said they'd fix it and back date is once I sent them proof of my new insurance, which I did. Come to find out later on that it got sent to collections. Apparently I somehow still owed $66 due to when I changed policies, which had I ever known that or recieved a bill for that I would've payed instead of it going to collections and messing with my credit. So I payed that and she said after I did that it'd be taken out of collections.

So then I check a week later and it's still in collections, so I call back and they're telling me I still owe them $90.

Apparently they sent the original bill that was supposed to be back dated to collections so I'm stuck paying a bill I should've never had that got sent to collections that I never got a notice for! Absolutely ridiculous!

My parked car got hit, took 2 weeks for the adjustor to show up, another week for the general to get back to me. Adjustor wrote a bad sheet as repairs were much more and after another 1.5 weeks still waiting on the okay to get repairs started or screw ne over and total my car.
